AITP Hosts the 13th Annual Business and Technology Conference

By Molly Nadeau, Communications and Marketing Intern

It’s that time again! OU AITP’s 13th Annual Business and Technology Conference will be held this Friday, October 2 in the Baker Ballroom from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.  Students who are Management Information Systems majors, or simply interested in the field of information technology, are highly encouraged to attend the department-focused conference and recruiting session.  The all-day event is $20 for non-AITP members, and is included in the dues for newly added or returning members.

Recruiters and company representatives from 13 IT-related companies are making the trek to Athens because of the high demand for consultant and technological job roles within corporations today.  These companies include: Attevo, Cardinal Solutions Group, Inc., Deloitte, Hyland Software, Inc., ICC, The J.M. Smucker Company , KPMG, Nationwide, Parker Hannifin, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Progressive, Rolta TUSC, and Sogeti USA.

Representatives from these different industries and consulting firms plan to discuss hot topics in the industry on four different panels throughout the day.  The panel topics include: Generational Differences, Corporate Social Responsibility, Finding Job Opportunities and Winning the Interview, and Cultural Awareness in a Global IT Workplace.  Linda Burstein, Campus Recruiting Manager / HR Generalist, will also be making a keynote presentation on generational differences and how to overcome them in the workforce.

The Association of Information Technology Professionals is a premier student organization at Ohio University that unites students with the common goal of gaining a better understanding of information systems and technology. OU AITP offers students excellent opportunities to see how technology is utilized in the workforce. Besides putting together this distinct conference, OU AITP also regularly hosts events that serve as a great chance to network with potential employers.
