What is RSS?
RSS, which in its current iteration stands for Really Simple Syndication, is essentially a way to subscribe to content (a feed) from an online source so that the respective content is automatically delivered to you by a method of your choosing.
The method of delivery can be through select Web browsers (see below), RSS readers and news aggregator applications (see below). This way, you can have all the most recent updates from the content sources you care about most collected in one place.
How to subscribe to an RSS feed
Some modern Web browsers will indicate if an RSS feed is available on a page by displaying either
or
in the address bar or bottom-right corner of the browser. Another indication of an RSS feed would be the presence of one of the following buttons on a page:
Depending on the application you're using (Web browser, RSS reader, news aggregator, etc.), you can either click on those links directly to access the RSS feed, or you'll need to copy the link location by 1) option-clicking (Mac) or right-clicking (Windows) on the link and/or associated button, and 2) copying the location and pasting it into the appropriate place in your RSS application.
