Robert C. Hughes, vice president for Digital Equipment Corp. business and office systems marketing, spoke on the burgeoning use of personal computers in the business world before a crowd of Ohio University students, faculty and administrators in February.
In Hughes' view, companies and institutions install twice as many computers as they need; he said integrated systems organized in the departmental style of universities would offer more power and flexibility than centralized computer systems.
Hughes' speech was part of the dedication events for the College's computer instructional facility provided by Digital and the College's alumni and friends.
Digital executives attending the dedication of the College's newest computer laboratory included Joel Schwartz, vice president of educational marketing, Merrimack, N.H.; Richard Hill, business and office systems marketing; Faith E. Skibbe, customer finance manager, Cincinnati; James Heiberger, unit manager, software, Columbus; and Todd Brubaker, sales representative, Columbus.
