Anne McClanahan retired from teaching in March of 1999. She originally joined the College of Business in 1977 to teach courses in statistics. By 1982, she was a part of the original group to create the MIS major (then called Computer Systems in Business) within the College of Business.
Anne taught courses in systems analysis and design, fourth generation languages, database design, microcomputer spreadsheet applications and business information systems.
She was primarily responsible for the sucessful implementation of Cincom database software products into the MIS curriculum. This included the use of Cincom's ULTRA and SUPRA products as well as signicant Beta-testing activities using those products. Anne was also the pioneer of the use of Cincom's MANTIS programming language in the fourth generation programming course.
Anne was always committed to incorporating hands-on activities within her courses which was particularly important to the high reputation the program enjoys with employers today. In addition, Anne was adviser to the MIS club for several years.
Anne is currently retired from teaching within the College of Business but still resides in Athens.
