Connect was created in the spring of 2002 by a group of student leaders who saw a void in College of Business student-alumni interaction. Members from various student groups, representing a variety of majors and both graduate and undergraduate students, came together and laid the groundwork for an organization that will work closely with the SAF to enhance the relationships between current students and the College's alumni. For example, Connect will have a representative on the College's Council of Student Organizations to coordinate communications between the 18 student organizations and the SAF. When student groups plan to travel to a city for field trips, meeting executives or touring businesses, Connect will communicate with local SAF members to determine if they have sufficient resources to host or meet with the visiting students. The students in Connect also plan to work with faculty to invite SAF members to submit their companies as "clients" for cluster-class business projects. In addition, Connect will work closely with the SAF in developing relationships with alumni that will serve both students and alumni alike, with a goal of making the College of Business experience a basis for life-long professional relationships.
