Application Process

About the Application Process

For Central Ohio cohortsWe are currently accepting applications and making admission decisions for the Central Ohio cohort beginning in January 2010.  The application deadline is December 1, 2009 and prospective students are encouraged to apply early as space is limited.

For Southeastern Ohio cohorts - Applications are being accepted for PMBA Southeastern Ohio Cohort 7.  Classes will begin in August 2010.  The priority application deadline is June 1, 2010. Applications completed after June 1, 2010 will be considered as seats are available in the program.

How to Apply

Submit to the Ohio University Graduate College, McKee House, 44 University Terrace, Athens, OH 45701:

  • The online Graduate Student Application. A $50 nonrefundable application fee applies. The program name is Professional MBA and the program code is MB6146.
  • Two sets of official transcripts from all institutions of higher education you have attended. Ohio University transcripts will be obtained by Graduate College on your behalf. 

Upload the following documents and attach to your online application in the Background and References section:

  • An up-to-date and current professional resume.
  • Your professional plans statement. Discuss your accomplishments, career goals and objectives, and the value of the M.B.A. degree to achieving your career goals.
  • Your personal statement. Include a brief autobiographical sketch and describe what strengths, qualities, and attributes you bring to the PMBA classroom. (A separate writing sample is not required.)

Arrange for three individuals to submit letters of recommendation in your behalf.  One letter must be from your immediate supervisor.

  • When prompted on the online application, request that your recommenders be contacted through the online application process for electronic submission of their recommendation letters.
  • Letters of recommendation should include the provider’s relationship to you and their complete address and contact information, including a clearly identifiable professional e-mail address (not a Yahoo!, Hotmail, or G-Mail account, for instance).
  • Your recommenders should speak to your level of maturity, leadership qualities, and potential for senior management responsibility.
  • Paper recommendation letters should be sent to Assistant Director, MBA Programs, College of Business, 514G Copeland Hall, Ohio University, Athens, OH 45701-2979.

Admission

Once the application and all supporting documents are on file with the College of Business, selected applicants will be invited for a pre-admission interview.

Admission to the Professional MBA Program is highly competitive. Factors considered in the admission decision include years of experience, strength of recommendation letters, relevance of goals statement, academic and career achievements, fit, and finally a pre-admission interview.
