Student Clubs and Organizations

The College's undergraduate student organizations offer students the chance to demonstrate leadership potential and gain experience outside the classroom. The groups offer academic and social activities and are involved in charitable work in the Athens community. Our student organizations include:

Accounting Club - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/accounting
The Ohio University Accounting Club is an adjunct to Beta Alpha Psi. The club offers membership to anyone who has an interest in accounting. Accounting Club meets weekly with Beta Alpha Psi. Members have an opportunity to participate in socials and network with professionals on a weekly basis. The quarterly dues for Accounting Club are $15.

Alpha Kappa Psi - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/akpsi
Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest fraternity in the nation. Its members are offered the opportunity for brotherhood, leadership, unity and education. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all business majors and minors interested in professional development as well as the social aspects of a fraternity. There is a ten-week pledge program required before full membership can be obtained. Dues are $115 each fall and winter quarter. Attendance at weekly meetings is required.

American Marketing Association - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/ama
AMA is a professional organization whose members are dedicated to gaining relevant marketing experience outside the classroom. Members enjoy networking opportunities, career workshops, interesting projects, and the chance to interact with marketing professors and other students. All majors are welcome. Dues are $60.00 to join and $35.00 to renew membership.

Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs - www.ohiou.edu/~ace
A.C.E. is an organization dedicated to serving the needs of students interested in business ownership, by providing them with the support, resources and education they need to start successful ventures. A.C.E. members motivate, inspire and support one another to achieve personal success. The club meets every week . Dues are $12.00 per quarter.

Association of Information Technology Professionals - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/aitp
It is the mission of AITP to provide superior leadership in education and Information Technology. AITP is dedicated to using the synergy of Information Technology partnerships to provide education and benefits to our members and to work with industry to assist in the overall promotion and direction of Information Technology. Beta Alpha Psi - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/accounting
Beta Alpha Psi is the national fraternity for financial information professionals. Members must have completed two courses above the introductory level accounting, finance, or MIS courses. In addition, members must hold a 3.0 accumulative G.P.A., as well as in the accounting, finance or MIS courses. There is a one-time $45 initiation fee as well as $10 quarterly dues. The meetings are held with the Accounting Club on a weekly basis.

Beta Gamma Sigma
Beta Gamma Sigma was founded nationally among colleges accredited by the AACSB in 1913. Membership is the highest recognition a student can receive in an undergraduate or master's program in business or management. To be eligible for membership, a student must rank in the upper 7% of the junior class, upper 10% of the seni or class, or upper 20% of the graduating master's class. The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement and personal excellence in the study and practice of business.

Black Student Business Caucus - studentorg.cob.ohio.edu/bsbc
Black Student Business Caucus was established in 1988. Its purpose is to introduce students to the issues of excellence and diversity as well as techniques necessary for survival in the corporate arena. Members participate in an annual business trip, excellence conferences, community service, and current events discussions. Dues are $10 per quarter and meetings are held weekly.

The purpose of Christian Business Leaders is to equip business students with the Biblical foundation necessary to be a strong Christian leader in the College of Business and the business world. CBL provides business majors and minors with an opportunity for spiritual exploration and development in a faithful community of believers. Connect was created in the spring of 2002 by a group of student leaders who saw a void in College of Business student-alumni interaction. Members from various student groups, representing a variety of majors and both graduate and undergraduate students, came together and laid the groundwork for an organization that will work closely with the SAF to enhance the relationships between current students and the College's alumni.

Delta Sigma Pi - www.oudeltasig.org
This professional business fraternity designed to foster the study of business and encourage professionalism, scholarship and social activity among members. The Alpha Omicron Chapter was founded in 1925, making Delta Sigma Pi the oldest professional business fraternity on the Ohio University campus. Prospective members must be a second-quarter freshmen or an upperclassman with at least five quarters remaining; hold an accumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.5; and attend rush, which is held during fall and winter quarters.

Ex-Sell - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/exsell 
Ex-Sell is a formal student organization open to any student with an interest in sales. Its mission is to develop excellence in sales and entrepreneurial thinking through interaction among students and professionals. The Ex-Sell organization offers students experience in public relations, internal communications and networking through committee and organization involvement. Ex-Sell is only $20 for an entire year. We are also the people that sell the business cards.

Financial Management Association - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/fms
The goal of the Financial Management Association is to serve our members and Ohio University by developing professional and social skills outside the walls of the classroom. We are a diverse group of students gathered together to help each other succeed within the corporate environment. The benefits of membership include exposure to the financial industry, networking opportunities, and affiliation with our international chapter. Our organization is open to Ohio University business majors and business minors with an interest in business and finance.

Gamma Iota Sigma - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/gis
Students interested in the insurance industry meet weekly to explore and discuss insurance trends and career paths. Activities include guest speakers, on-site company visits, and attendance at international conferences. Dues are $10.00 each quarter. 

International Business Society - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/intbus
IBS is designed to educate members about international business issues, practices and cultures. Meetings include guest speakers, cultural presentations and professional development. IBS also takes a bi-annual trip abroad, an annual spring trip, and sponsors International Business Day. Meetings are held weekly.

MBA Student Association
The M.B.A.S.A. is a professional and social organization focusing on the participants in the MBA Program. The primary objective of the organization is to enhance and encourage the professional and personal development of MBA students through workshops, projects, speakers, and networking.

Ohio University Portfolio Management Group - studentorg.cob.ohiou.edu/ousemg
The Ohio University Portfolio Management Group provides an accelerated program for Finance, Marketing and MIS students seeking an opportunity to apply financial theories, marketing strategies and information dissemination techniques for a money managing firm. It is a student culture that facilitates not only the advanced sphere of learning, but also the professional maturation of participants. This group is open to students of any age, but must be in the College of Business and have a GPA of at least a 3.2. After completing the application process, students seek such benefits of learning advanced equity research methodologies, access to high-end investment tools in their own office, and receive elective credits for partaking in the group. Phi Alpha Delta
"Service: to the students, the school, the profession, and the community." The Ohio University chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity International welcomes students of all majors with a 2.8 grade point average or higher. This professional fraternity is concerned with educating undergraduate students about the realm of law through professional programs, career advancement programs, fundraising, community service, mock trial, and law school visits. There is a mandatory pledge period which lasts for one quarter, $35.00 pledge period dues, and a one-time $70.00 national initiation fee which includes lifetime membership to Phi Alpha Delta, and a year long subscription to "The Reporter" the official PAD magazine. Once active, dues are $25.00 a quarter.

"We shall promote, through loyalty and fraternity, the advancement of professionalism in business." This professional business fraternity fosters the study of business and promotes professional competency. Members must have a minimum 2.5 overall g.p.a., have completed six hours of business courses and cannot be a member of any other business fraternity. Weekly meetings are held.

The Ohio Management Group is dedicated to providing members with the tools to succeed at Ohio University and after graduation. OMG enriches managerial and leadership skills through weekly professional speakers, professional development, networking, being committee managers, as well as working hand in hand with students from across the university on a number of different organizational projects. OMG is open to all majors.  

Student Fixed Income Management Group - www.cob.ohio.edu/ousfimg
The Student Fixed Income Group has a $1 million from the Ohio University Foundation to invest in fixed-income securities. Students in this program learn research and investment methodologies to manage fixed-income funds. This group is open to students of any age, but must be in the College of Business and have a GPA of at least a 3.0.  We hope you take the time to stop by the Finance department to learn more about the group and pick up an application.
